Code of Professional Ethics
The objective of the Foreclosure Council of America Code of Ethics is hold our members to a higher standard that is required by law. Accordingly, the code of ethics prescribes the rules of ethical and professional conduct.
- Members will practice consistent with current equal housing guidelines and shall not discriminate against any home owner.
- Members shall educate the homeowners about the foreclosure process and all of their possible options. Even if their best option doesn't involve the member. So that homeowner may make an informed choice.
- Member shall never misrepresent the cost or benefits of any service or product.
- Member shall continue their education on all state and federal laws pertaining to legal practices to assist homeowners in foreclosure.
- Member shall always place the needs of the homeowner first and shall not allow himself to put his own financial gain above what is the homeowner's best interest.
- Member shall hold a high priority in maintaining the integrity of the Foreclosure Council of America and its Code of Ethics.
- A member has the obligation to inform the homeowner to the best of their knowledge all of the facts representing the true cost and benefits of any recommendations.
- A member shall be disciplined for any act of professional misconduct, and has the duty to know and abide by the laws and regulations pertaining to all the members' activities.
- A member shall not engage in any deceitful or dishonest behavior and will be subject to immediate termination.
- Members should strive to continually improve their professional skills and knowledge.
- A member shall not misrepresent the requiremenst to admission to the Foreclosure Council of America.
- Member shall always clearly distinguish between their opinion and facts when evaluating the homeowner's property.
- Member shall make it explicitly clear to the homeowner that they are in fact selling their home and that they are not receiving a loan of any sorts.
- A member shall always allow a homeowner sufficient time to review all paperwork and shall never pressure the homeowner into signing a contract.
- Members shall agree to mediation by a Foreclosure Council of America mediator if a dispute arises with a homeowner.
